Certifications

Since 2000, we have been a member of the International Packaged Ice Association (IPIA). The IPIA's mission is for our members to provide the retailer and consumer with a safe, high-quality, consumable food product. IPIA members recognize that ICE IS A FOOD and meet mandatory safe packaged ice accreditation standards.

Island Ice & Beverage Company Limited is certified annually and is subject to plant audits carried out by the National Science Foundation (NSF) in meeting the Packaged Ice Quality Control Standards (PIQCS) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) of IPIA.

GMP refers to the Good Manufacturing Practice Regulations promulgated by the US Food and Drug Administration. These regulations require that manufacturers take proactive steps to ensure that their products are safe, pure, and effective.GMP regulations require a quality approach to manufacturing, enabling companies to minimize or eliminate instances of contamination, mixups, and errors. This in turn, protects the consumer from purchasing a product which is not effective or even dangerous.

Island Ice & Beverage Company Limited is the only plant in Jamaica that meets these international standards and is a certified member of the IPIA.

In addition to meeting international standards, Island Ice & Beverage Company Limited is also required to undergo rigorous testing by the Jamaica Bureau of Standards and is certified to manufacture ice in Jamaica.
